Finland's first satellite is set to enter orbit this year as part of a new wave of "nanosatellites" that have reduced the cost of putting a satellite into orbit. The satellite, which is named 'Aalto 1' will be launched by the American SpaceX company in early summer. The device weighs about 4 kilograms and will cost roughly 200,000 euros to send into orbit.

Heidi Cruz, wife of presidential candidate Ted Cruz, has roots in Finland. Her maternal grandfather was Olavi Rouhe from Savonlinna. He did mission work in the Congo for 22 years, and worked as a surgeon in California for 30 years; he was also an ordained pastor. His daughter, Heidi's mother, Suzanne was married to Peter Nelson, a dentist. Heidi grew up in San Luis Obispo, CA.

The Appeals Court has overturned a lower court's verdict in Finland's first terror case, acquitting four people of funding terror. The court noted that at the time of their actions, providing financial support to terrorist groups had not yet been criminalized under Finnish law.

Finnish President Sauli Niinisto will join other Nordic leaders on a visit to the White House on May 13. This will be he first visit by a Finnish president in 14 years.
