Hepla, Evelyn 9/4/1936 - 4/25/2016 Ypsilanti, MI Evelyn Joyce Hepla, 79, of Pittsfield Township, passed away on Monday April 25th peacefully in her home of natural causes. Born in Detroit, MI, She attended Mackenzie High School, and went on to graduate from the Henry Ford School of Nursing. While being a dedicated mother, she had a fulfilling career as a registered nurse until her retirement from the University of Michigan Hospital. Daughter of Carl and Mamie Hepola of Detroit, MI. Eldest sister of Charles Hepola, John Hepola (Susan), Marilyn Morgan (Jim), and William Hepola. Evelyn was married to Glenn Konefke. Mother of Keith Konefke, Brian Konefke (Kim), Susan Schauland (Ken), and Cliff Konefke (Lai Yee). Grandmother to Scott Schauland, Heidi Tester (Seth), and Tom Schauland, and Makayla Konefke, Brian Konefke Jr., Curtis Konefke, and Abigail Konefke. Preceded in Death by brothers Charles Hepola, William Hepola, and son Brian Konefke. She is survived by Keith Konefke, Cliff Konefke, Susan Schauland, John Hepola, Marilyn Morgan, and her cousins, nieces and nephews. Evelyn was strong in faith, and a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ann Arbor for many years. Throughout her life, her dedication and love for her children and family were readily apparent. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping, the Ann Arbor Art Fair, and many local events. She had an affinity for New England and traveled there several times. She also enjoyed volunteering at places like Cobblestone Farm, Meals on Wheels, and the Finnish Center in Farmington, MI. She gave of her time, her love, and her nursing skills for many groups. Later in life, she enjoyed being a member of the Red Hatters, keeping busy with group outings and staying in touch with old friends and family. A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm, Thursday May 5th, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church, 1432 Washtenaw Avenue, Ann Arbor, MI 48104.
