Can someone read where Anders died on this Vörå rippi. Looks like he died 1790 in an accident at Kierp farm? Am I right or not even close? I haven't been able to find him on the 1790 death records on digi.narc.fi or HisKi. I am not able to find his birth either. At his marriage in 1769, he was from Kaskby.

Hello!

It looks like Anders died in Nerpis (modern spelling Närpes), approx. 100 km to the south from Vasa. The death records of Närpes from that time are lost, so it is no wonder you can´t find him on HisKi.

Hello again!

There is not much information we have on the tailor Anders Michelsson Ekbom in Vörå: He got married in 1769 to a Margareta Josefsdotter from Lålax, after which the couple got 7 children from 1769 to 1787. Then he went to Närpes in 1790 and died there.

In the communion book we find the family for example here: http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=9691427. There is no date of birth for Anders while Margareta was said to have been born on 15th July 1752.

Now what? Let us assume that Anders in deed was born in Vörå. Checking at HisKi:

Vörå - Vöyri - döpta

Åren 1720 - 1749
Faderns förnamn: MICHEL => Mickel
Barnets förnamn: ANDERS => Anders

Född Döpt By Gård Far Mor Barn
*8.11.1728 10.11.1728 Palfwes Michel Erichsson Maria Simonsdr Anders
*23.2.1734 24.2.1734 Jörala Michel Andersson Maria Johansdr Anders
*22.11.1735 23.11.1735 Kåskby Michel Mattzson Marg. Andersdr Anders
original - ALKUPKOMM: tvilling
*4.9.1736 5.9.1736 Miemusby Michel Mattzson Hegström Merta Andersdr Anders

Now, how can we continue from here? Do we have any clues about which couple could be the right one if any?

Let us now check in details the births of the two first children of Anders Ekbom and Margareta Josefsdotter.

1. Michel, born 23rd November 1769 - the baptism was witnessed by Mårten Michelsson and Brita Eriksdotter in Koskeby, by Johan Bertilsson and Maria Michelsdotter in Rejpelt and by Erik Josefsson and Margeta Jakobsdotter in Lålax.

2. Josef, born 21st April 1771 - the baptism was witnessed by Michel Michelsson and Anna Eriksdotter in Koskeby and by Matts Michelsson and Maria Michelsdotter in Koskeby as well.

We see that there are several persons with the patronym 'Michel', indicating that we might be able to find a few relatives to Anders Michelsson.

The next step is to find these persons in the Communion book for 1770-75: Mårten Michelsson b. 6.3.1731 and Brita Eriksdotter live in Koskeby on Gråbbil farm; Johan Bertilsson and Maria Michelsdotter b. 13.8.1724 live in Rejpelt on Pörnull farm; Michel Michelsson b. 26.9.1728 and Anna Eriksdotter live in Koskeby on Sippus farm and finally Matts Michelsson b. 19.6.1740 and Maria Michelsdotter also live in Koskeby on Sippus farm.

We now find that the parents of Mårten Michelsson born on 6th March 1731 are the couple Michel Andersson and Maria Johansdotter. Searching the other way around, we find this:

Vörå - Vöyri - döpta

Åren - 1750
Faderns förnamn: MICHEL => Mickel
Faderns patronymikon: ANDERS => Anders, Andersson den yngre, Anderson den yngre, Andersson d. äldre, Andersson d.yngre, Andersson d.äldre, Anderss. d.yngre, Anderss.d.yngre, Andersdot.
Moderns förnamn: MARIA => Maria
Moderns patronymikon: JOHAN => Johans, Johansson den yngre, Johansson den äldre, Johansson d.äldre, Johan Eriksdr, Johan Ericsdr, Johan Fredr., Johansdot., Johannasdot., Johandot., Johannasd., Johansdott., Johannesdot., Johan Ericsd., Johan Ericsdotter, Johansotter, Johannasb., Johan Eriksd., Johan Fredriksson, Johan Eriksson, Johan Fredriksd., Johan Gustafsdr, Johan Filipsson, Johan Fredriksdr

Född Döpt By Gård Far Mor Barn
*16.2.1723 17.2.1723 Jörala Michel Andersson Maria Johansdr Anna
*13.8.1724 16.8.1724 Jörela Michel Andersson Maria Johansdr Maria
*20.9.1726 25.9.1726 Jörala Michel Andersson Maria Johansdr Johan

*5.2.1738 6.2.1738 Jörala Michel Andersson Maria Johansdr Erich

*27.5.1744 28.5.1744 Koskby Michel Andersson Maria Johansdr Hendrich

Among the 12 children there is a son Anders born on 23rd February 1734. This is almost too good to be true: Among the witnesses there are three brothers and one sister of the supposed Anders Michelsson Ekbom!

Finally, let us check the following page from the Communion book: http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=9718091

On this page with the Grobbil farm we find the farmer Mårten Michelsson and his family but also the BROTHER Anders b. 3.1734 together with his wife Margareta b. 15.7.1752.

In my mind there is no doubt that we here have the tailor Anders Michelsson Ekbom and his wife Margareta Josefsdotter Helsing. Anders' mother Maria, now a widow, is still alive and living on the Sippus farm.

Michel Andersson and Maria Johansdotter lived in Jörala village up to 1740, when they moved to [Sippus] in Koskeby - this according to the list obtained from HisKi. On which farm they lived before 1740 is unknown to me - we should probably ask Torbjörn Nikus about this - I believe he knows these villages and their habitants as well as his pockets!

Göran,
Thank you so much. I have some of this info, but this will "fill in the blanks." I have met Torbjörn in 2004 and we have shared information in the past. We are also related.
