My great uncle - Johan Viktor Gustafsson (Parents Kustaa Mauritz Markkula and Mariana Lovisa Johansdotter Lukkala) was born 11-3-1866 and died 2-5-1868 in Sakyla Finland. The cause of death was listed as Vadkopp. I can't find that anywhere so I'm guessing it's an abbreviation for something. Does anyone know what this referring to? I've wondered if it was 'famine' related.

Also, I can't find when his older brother, Gustaf Mauritz Markkula (born 15-9-1864) died.

thank you for anything you can find,
sue

You'll get the most information about Emma Kasvi and her upbringing by going through the life of her mother, Wilhelmina Mikkelsdotter:

At this point there is some sort of clerical error and I lose her. Her birth date is also unclear, given as November of 1851, although later 1.11.1851 is attested. The record claim she's born in Kokemäki, but I can't find a birth record for her.

Raakel, the daughter of Gustaf Markula and Emma Kasvi, lived at least until 1913. I found a record of her confirmation on 24.6.1913. She was still marked to be living in Kiettare, Kokemäki.

WOW, thank you so much. I never thought I'd be able to find anything about Gustaf and his family. This is absolutely amazing. My grandmother never talked about her life in Finland so it's been such an exciting and humbling journey finding out what her world was like and getting to know the people I came from. Thank you again for all the work you've done, introducing me to more of my family!
