My grandfather, David Strandman, arrived at Ellis Island in May 1907. He arrived with his brother Erik on the ship Cedric from Liverpool. They were from Wiitisaari and bound for Ashtabula harbor, Ohio. David was 23 and single but Erik was 20 and married. David went on to get married, had a family that still has descendants in Ashtabula today.
After the ship manifest shows Erik, he completely disappears. He may have returned to Finland, went elsewhere in the US...it is a mystery. All my searches for Erik have been to no avail and I am wondering if there are other sources I could utilize.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or comments.

Do you have date of birth? It will help in searching.

thanks Karen for the reply. I only have the ship manifest note that he was 20 years old in May, 1907.

Thanks for the information ! This gets me closer. I show the birthdate for David as the same. But the ship manifest shows Erik to be 20 years old but the communion book would have him at 36. The marriage certificate for David Strandman in 1909 has his parents as Antti Stranman and Anna Ruuska. And I show a (Torps) Eric Andss Strandman and (torpdr) Anna Maria Mattsdr Kaupinen married in Viitisaari on 9/7/1844 with a son named Erik Strandman born on 6 June 1847. I wonder now if the 1871 Erik might be the son born in 1847.

Anna Johansdotter Ruuska, b. 1840 in my previous post.
Parents; Johan Johansson Ruuska and Anna Radikain.

Eva Johansdotter Ruuska, b. 1852, see above.
Parents; Johan Johansson Ruuska and Anna Radikain.

Anna and Eva were siblings.
They are both in the same family in the children's book:

I think David, born 1884 and Erik, born in 1886, were cousins.

Thanks Shadow600 ! I would not have uncovered this information on my own. It all makes sense and documented. I can now search for Erik to see where he went...My thought is that he returned to Finland but I need to search now with newfound facts.
