I'm searching all possible information re. Maja Lena born 05 April 1868, in Purmo, in Pedersö Utmark, on Naars.

According to info I have she went to USA like her siblings Jakob Alexandersson Naars (born 28 July 1870 on same place as Maja Lena), Victor Alexandersson Nylund (Naars - born 09 July 1875 on same place as Maja Lena – dead 09 December 1942 in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, USA) and Edla Rosina Alexandersdotter Peterson (Nylund – born 01 May 1878 on same place as Maja Lena – dead 10 November 1959 in DeQuincy, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, USA).

According to a note in Communion books for Purmo Parish 1888-1897 pag. 463 “Amerika 16/6 93” 16 June 1893.

This could be her...arriving in New York, NY, on 17.7.1893, aboard the ship Servia...a maid going to Michigan (#377 on passenger list, near top)

Maria L Nylund, Domestic, father Alex Nylund, married John E. Wikman on 15.4.1896, Escanaba, MI (record #505)

Yes - thank you this is the person I search.

I attach information from Find A Grave - in the bio it's clearly explaned her relations with relatives in USA. https://old.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=wickman&GSfn=mar&GSby=1868&GSbyrel=in&GSdy=1951&GSdyrel=in&GScntry=4&GSob=n&GRid=33631264&df=all&

Now I will continue to search the fourth sibling who went to America:

Jakob Alexandersson Naars (possible Nylund) born 28 July 1870 in Purmo, Pedersö Utmark, on Naars, Finland. For the moment I have no other info than that he also left for USA. Maybe when Maria (Maja) left or later.

Alf,
According to the 1900 Census, Jacob arrived US 1892, he was single, works for railroad. This is in E. Ogalalla, Keith, Nebraska. 1920 and 1940 still has him single. In 1940 he's in Minneapolis, MN. Works for steam railroad.

Karen, thank you!

Do you find burial info for Jacob also?

No, unfortunately he's not listed in Find-a-Grave. I thought maybe he was with Viktor who also died in Minneapolis, but not there. As he was single and Viktor died earlier there was probably no one to buy a stone.

Ok, at least I have a lot of information of Jacob, except how and when he left Finland. He planned to go 1886, but did not. I have also tried Find A Grave without success. Maybe I try again. Thank you. Is there something I can do for you?

The census records say he arrived in 1892. He's not on Find-a Grave. I also checked Interment.net with no luck. Also mngenweb, which is the Minnesota Genealogy site. Possibly "Ask A Librarian" might at least find a death notice. Would you like me to try? I've had some success with them in the past. Most large libraries have newspaper archives and as we know the actual date of death they might do a look-up for me. Minneapolis should have a large library.

No newspaper notice available at the library and online search doesn't cover the year. A copy of his death record is available for a fee of $9.00 His certificate # 1955-MN-019839. This can be ordered through various sources.

Thank you Karen.

Could you please advice how to buy the death certificate?

Available through www.vitalchek.com, ancestry.com, mngenweb. Just include that certificate number #1955-MN-019839. Record under Jacob Nylund.

It's very hard to get a Death certificate to Finland and the cost's are 54.50 Dollar. I have to verify my identity by sending a Fax with my identification info - and I'm not a so close relative, when it's my grandfather's father's sibling. I have all info for death. Only burial info is missing and it's not sure that it's on the Death certificate. I assume that it's hard to get additional information.

Wow. That's a real mark-up. Possibly I can find someone to do a look-up. Most death certificates of the time frame, 1955, will list a cemetery for disposition of body to funeral home. Let me see what I can find.
