greetings all

i am interested in learning about the finnish vakka
or dowry case/box
i have posted a link to one that a friend owns.
we would like to know more about how it is made

and very much the **design on the top..
if it has any meaning?

there is an inscription inside{ i have the translation}
and it would appear that this was a dowry
case, as it had a small linen emroidered
pouch with a karalian coin in it.

if anyone could offer any help
i do appriciate it.

here is the links.

The text translates into:
"Riitta Joonaantytär (John's daughter) Halonen brought this vakka to Kortela in Juuka when she married Petteri Paavonpoika (Paavo's son) Kortelainen in 1849. Her daughter's Maria Loviisa's daughter Anna K. Kokkonen brought it to America in 1907."

The coin seems to be a Russian 5 kopek.
