My cousin in Finland is coming to the US next summer and hopes to find the grave of her great grandmother in Soudan, Minnesota. We know the following information:

Mari/Mary/Maria - Brita Ronn born Dec 23, 1863 in Finland, married Mickel Saxberg, born May 20, 1859 in Finland. They took the name Carlson in US and lived in Soudan Minnesota.

Children Alfred born 1886 in Finland
Anders Johan born 1889 in US
Edvard Mickelsson born Feb 12, 1892 in US
Maria born Dec 21, 1893 in US

Mari/Mary/Maria-Brita died at the age of 30 on Dec 23, 1893 in Soudan. Her husband Mickel took the 4 children back to Finland.

Perhaps someone in the area of Soudan could help us find the grave.

Thanks, Marcy

Select History of Soudan Mine State Park in the left hand column.
The history explains the connections between Breitung, Soudan and Tower.

Hope this helps a little.

This is a fav place for me so I will see if I can find anything in the funeral lists, if they exist on the microfilm at Swenson.
It is a very very short film.

Chuck.....I can't thank you enough. I was going to write to the Lutheran churches in the area to see if they had any information on funerals or church listings.

Thanks, Marcy

I found baptismal records for Edvard and Maria but not for Anders. The film had the half of the record showing birthdates and sponsors names but parents and child side was missing. If I could have seen the names of the same sponsors for Edvard or Maria, I would have copied that information because it could have been Anders birthdate and you would know where he was born.
Attached is a composite scan of pages showing the 2 baptisms and the deaths page.

Chuck....Wow, this is wonderful thank you so much for taking the time and all the information. Did you find the information from the St Pauls Lutheran Church records? I understand there is or was a Scandinavian Lutheran Church in the area also, are these the same churches??

Thanks again,
Marcy

edit: B=baptist, L=lutheran B71, E144 are Swenson film idents and the last bit describes what is on the film.

I found the info at the lutheran church. The Finngen website church lists mentioned that the Finns met in the Swedish church:
edit: Tower - Suomi Synod
Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Congregation
Use Swedish Lutheran Church building
Plus Soudan had some Finnish churches as well.

This is the Swenson online list of Minnesota churches from which I copied the above listing.

Your ppl were listed as living in Soudan so I doubt they went elsewhere because they did have 2 kids baptized at St. Paul's and the funeral was there also.
I have sent you an email on this so be sure to check it out.
