Mathiasson August

Hi there.

I'm searching for My grandfather on my mothers side. He immigrated to Canada 1929, using the name August Nybacka, and arrived in Halifax 1929.03.16 as passenger on a Norwegian ship. He most certainly changed his surname to Mathiasson. After that i've got nothing on him. He has been living in Vancouver BC. Any help in tracking him wuold be great.

The Swenson film has no members listing and a few marriage records up into 1926 so nothing to be learned there.

Swenson Swedish center does have the film of Svenska Pressen of Vancouver BC from Feb 1929 onwards so if you should find something about him that could be found in a newspaper, I can check it for you.

On the British Columbia Death Index 1872-1979, I found August Mathieson, age 71, died 16 Apr 1974 in Vancouver. You didn't give his date of birth, so I'm not sure if this is the right one. This August would have been born abt 1903. Karen N

If this guy Kevin found is the correct one, then August Mathieson's death came after the paper ceased publication.
