Just read an article in Norden newspaper about a memorial to the ca 70,000 war children from Finland who went to Sweden during the Winter and Continuation Wars. Sweden's king Carl VXI Gustaf dedicated it in Haparanda 27 April with President Halonen from Finland being present. The sculpture, called Separation, was created by Anna Jäämeri-Ruusuvuori who was also a war child in Sweden. Most of the children returned to Finland after the wars, but several thousand remained in Sweden. It has been 60 years since the wars ended.

There were also a lot (I don't know how many) of children sent to Denmark, which was occupied by Germany. This is for some reason still not talked about.
