Fitchburg Sentinel (Fitchburh, MA.) 1896 June 22

Philip, the eight months old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Friis of Lunenburg, died, Saturday evening, after a short illness. The funeral was held, Sunday afternoon. The interment was in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Fitchburg.

Cpl. John Friis, of this city, is now stationed in New York City. He took his basic army training in the south, and was transferred to Fort Hamilton, Broklyn, N.Y. He is now at Hotel Braslin, Broadway and 29th Street, N.Y.C

Mrs. John A. Friis

Mrs. Virginia E. (Eldredge) Friis, 44, wife of John A. Friis, of 100 Marshall Street, died this morning in Burbank Hospital. She was born in Harwick, a daughter of Harry and Laura (Handy) Eldredge, and had resided in this city 21 years.
She was a member of the C.C. Church. She graduated from the New England Hospital for Women.

Staff Sgt. John A. Friis has returned to his post in NYC after spending a week's furlough with his wife and family at 100 Marshall Street.

Mrs. John A. Friis, of 100 Marshall Street, returned home yesterday from the Palmer Memorial hospital, Brookline, where she received treatment for the past week.

Mr. and Mrs. John A. Friis of 100 Marshall St. have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Joan Friis, to William E. Sullivan of 132 South St. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur V. Sullivan. No date has been set for the wedding.

Death of Mrs. John J. Friis
Mrs. Pauline (Leppala) wife of John J. Friis 91 Marshall Street, died at her home aged 68 years. She was born in Finland , and lived in this city for the past 44 years.
She leaves her husband, three sons, John of this city, Waino and Carlo of Boston, a daughter, Mrs. Lillian Maki of this city, a sister in Finland and two brothers in Finland, and two grandchildren.

The funeral of Mrs. John J. Friis 91 Marshall Street will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Finnish Congregational Church. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery. (Sawyer Funeral Home)

Thank you so much for all that you found. I'll pass it on to Finland. She's so grateful for any bit of data we have found. These are her relatives and she had no contact with them after they emigrated. I think she's hoping to find some living relatives so she can contact them. I'll ask her if there's anything else she's looking for. She has a problem writing English.
