RootsMagic is the easiest to use family tree software available for Windows 95, 98, ME, XP, NT, and 2000, yet is also one of the most powerful.

In my comments about Family Origins, I mentioned that Roots Magic is the follow-up program to FO after FO was purchased by another genealogy company and then taken off the market. :) I used FO ever since it was created, and found it to be one of the easiest programs to use.

Can anybody of you who use the program write a short explanation how to export a GEDCOM file from your program?

Open the database, highlight the person and click "File" from the menu, then "Export GEDCOM".

A pop up appears which allows you to specify:

-Select individual(s) or Everyone
-Information to Include like Notes, Sources, Multimedia links, etc
-Option to privatize living individuals

Then click the "Export" button.
