Fish & Shrimp Chowder (child approved)

This is a, mostly, traditional Finnish fish chowder with the addition of shrimp.

4 med potatoes (1/4” cubed, unpeeled)
1 med onion (finely diced)
2 ribs celery (diced)
1 carrot (diced, unpeeled)
˝ lb small variety shrimp (cleaned and deveined)
˝ lb fish fillet (whiting, herring, or other fishy fish)
2 tsp dried parsley
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
˝ gallon milk (your choice of fat content)
(black pepper to taste)

Mix and bring to a boil, simmer for 15-20 minutes, then let sit for an hour to allow flavors to blend. Mash with potato masher till thickened into a chowder, reheat, and serve.

My son said, “this is the best food I’ve ever had in my life!”

I had it for dessert after having it for dinner. This would go really well with a finnish sourdough bread.

This sounds great. The first fish soup I had was in Finland at Bert & Svea Lindvalls home this past summer. It was absoutely delightful. Svea is a wonderful cook!
