welcome to sfhs!
do you have any birthdates information?
birthplaces in Finland information?
where in Wyoming?

even if it's just family stories, they are often enough correct.
I found a family in Sweden the ppl here were unsuccessful finding. She said the old story in the family was that everybody except Sven came to America. So I have it a try and find Sven and the family surname in Sweden was slightly different. A fun find which is why I never discount oral histories.

I found an Anders Pasanen here - in Finnish so I don't know what it's about:
http://www.narc.fi/Arkistolaitos/tma/kaki/ttsl/ttsl128.htm

Google has a lot of Antti Pasanen names. HisKi has a lot of Pasanen names in various parishes, but no one named Anders/Antti, b. 1884.

Dear Denise,

Thank you very much for the information, I never would have thought to check WW1 draft registrations. It sounds like this would be him. I have tried to get a death certificate but vital records & Wy. Archives said I had to have a death date, they looked in years 1933-38, could not find anything, even thougth his grave stone says 1938 as death date! I ordered the obituaries for 1932-1938, on microfilm from Wy. library.
I have no one in the family lift to answer any questions. I do appreciate your help. Bit by bit I know it will all come together, if the WW1 draft reg. is him I now know his birth date. He would have that description the rest of the family is. Nancy

The dates and description match, but the daughters names and ages don't. It sure is something to look into though!

Dear Jeanette,

Thank you for this information, when I view the microfilm I ordered from Wy. I will see if this name appears. It might answer a lot of questions if it does.

Dear June,

Thank You for this information, because I don't know if the spelling was changed when he arrived in the U.S. I hope someday to find all this out,so I will be able to search in Finland.

Hi Nancy,
My suggestion to you would be to call the archives back, insist on them looking thoroughly thru 1938. I helped a friend with the archives in Massachusetts, and I knew the death year, but the clerk said this person I was looking for wasn't there. I called back about three times, made myself a very pleasant pest, and all of a sudden she stumbled on the name, and the spelling had been completely slaughtered! She had a good laugh afterwards, and could hardly wait to send it right out to me! I of course sent her a little thank-you, as she didn't hang up on me the third time! And she made the comment that my persistence surely paid off! Ha! Don't be afraid to call them back, as I've found Finnish names get totally mispelled often!

Hi, Denise,

I will try your suggestion and contact them again, they were so nice to me and helpful and said if I found more information to just call and they would look again. They said they could not check the obituary or attempt to locate a death certificate chronologically and suggested getting the microfilm. I have to find something at least I hope so.

Thanks, Nancy
