Hi,

I am looking for roots in Finland first my grandmothers mother Maria Jäger Jacobsson She was born 1875+- She moved to Sundsvall in Sweden with her children Ida (my grandmother) Signe, Ester and John. I am also looking for John Jacobsson who emigrated to Australia from Sweden 1894 . and his sister who emmigrated to Australia 1896 her name is Signe Jacobsson
she married in Australia, John bought a farm in Australia

I also like to hear about emmigrants during late 1800- 1930 in Australia. If you know about finnish settlements or other useful
tip let me know.

Thanks
Marian

I have some Jakobsson names that are similar to those you mentioned:

Signe Maria Johansdotter Jakobsson, b. 22 Sep 1895, Karleby.
Johan Artur Johansson Jakobsson, b. 22 Oct 1900, Karleby.
They also had a sister Edit and two brothers, Fridi and Gunnar. There is no indication that any of them moved from Finland.

Their parents were Johannes Kort-Jakobsson and Brita Johanna Johansdotter Kankkonen.

In the book ”SEA, GOLD & SUGARCANE” Finns in Australia 1851 – 1947 by Olavi Koivukangas, I found the seaman Gustav Jakobson from Munsala who arrived 1854.

In the book ”From THE MIDNIGHT SUN TO THE LONG WHITE CLOUD- Finns in New Zealand by the same author has information on seven Jacobson : Alfred b 1895, Edward b 1843 in Åbo, Jacob b 1860 in Nykarleby, Walter b 1893, Jakob b 1855, Karl Niclas b 1862 in Munsala and Nils b 1848

Hej Marian,
http://www.genealogia.fi/kauppa/indexe.htm
