Dr. Mika Roinila has published a new book dealing with the Finnish people in North America, entitled "The Finnish Immigrant Experience in North America, 1880-2000: Studies in Cultural Geography". He studied Finns in the Upper Great Lakes, Great Plains, British Columbia, Central Appalachia and Virginia to explain why Finnish and Finn-Swede communities originated, thrived and sometimes declined. Dr. Roinila has also published a new book "Finnishness in Finland and North America - Constituencies, Changes, and Challenges". The book complements existing Finnish immigrant studies. He and Jouni Korkiasaari have written a joint article entitled "Finnish North Americans Today". Many people were interviewed and some of their comments and photos are part of this article.
