Christian:

Here's what I have:
Emil Mattsson Granlund, b. 5 Jun 1874. To America 2 Mar 1892 to Milnor, North Dakota. His mother's brother John went to DeLamere, ND and paid the fare for Emil to emigrate. Emil worked a year for John and paid off the debt. Married Caroline Persson. They had 8 children.

August Mattsson Granlund, b. 28 Aug 1883. To America 1899. Known as Gus in the US. His uncle John paid the fare. John Hendrickson ran a large farm near DeLamere and Gus worked as a hired man on the farm for 9 years. Homesteaded north of Chapman, MT. Married Carrie Wallevand. Had 4 children.

Anna Emelie Mattsdotter Granlund, b. 11 Apr 1886. To America 1897. She married 3 or 4 times. Married to Andrew Persson.

I'll have to send the rest in another message. June

Christian,

Couldn't send a longer message - no space. Here's more:
Ossian Mattsson Granlund, b. 25 May 1890. To America 1905 with sister Hulda. Lived in DeLamere, ND rest of his life. Never married.

Some info. in SoB #16, Tab. 84

I don't have anything about the other names.

The information was sent to me by one of Anna Emelie's descendants. I'll send her address in a private mail.

Thank you June!

You made a great work. These people are "in-laws" to my grandfather's brother Andrew Johnson in Duluth. From a picture of his wedding there were some notes about his sister-in-law and I suppose she is found in these messages. Living cousins in Duluth also told something about a "Gus" who they did not know anything more about. This is surely the answer.

I will forward it to them and see what reaction I can get.

Hello Granskare!

The first family looks interesting. Does 30h mean husband and 30w mean wife and 30s a son?

For some reason they don't fit exactly to my family. I must try to verify it more.

The other people must be from another family.

Hello again June!

The S&B #16 is presenting another family (from Lillstara in Kyrkoby, Pedersöre). They may be related too, but not from the same family. Their thombstone is near my mother's.

There were a couple of Granlund families in Pedersöre as you see.

Hi Christian. Have you connected with either DJ Granland or Kaj Granland who are contributors to Finlander Forum? At one point in time, DJ was looking for a Frans Grönlund who emigrated from Finland to Minnesota. You can check out their postings on this name by going to Member's List.

Also, do you know if any of your Grönlunds ever lived in Michigan? I have an Abraham Grönlund, born in 1871 (presumably in Vasa, Finland) who lived in Dollar Bay, Michigan.

Hello Karen!

I have not been in contact with Kaj Granlund this time. The name Granlund is not very unusual here in Finland and I know that Kaj is from a different place in Finland. Only here in Pedersöre can be found several Granlund families who are not related at all.

The name Grönlund is also surely a different family.

To add to the Granlund picture, my Granlunds came to the US from Eura. Frans Maurice came with his wife. She died in Moose Lake Minnesota and Frans remarried a woman from Tornio. Frans' father Elias married a Grönlund woman after his first wife died in Finland. That is what led me to the state of confusion over our family name.

Dear C Dahlin,
I've noted your information on Duluth Swedish Finn family members. I'm collecting Swedish Finnish names for the SFHS exhibit for FinnFest 08 at Duluth convention center July 23-27.

If you would like to share further info, particularly photos, please contact me via email: forsmandon*msn.com

I'm hoping persons visiting the SFHS booth will carefully read the names listed there and add any information they may have to the collection. So one of our SFHS members sent me a query which I've developed into a 2'X2' panel. Maybe she'll get more info on life in Duluth during her grandmother's time there.

Appreciate any help you can give. Hope you're coming to the Swedish Finn Lunch in Proctor on July 23. I sent the info to Chit Chat on Finlander today. Many people use the time after lunch to "reunion" with family, albums, family trees and all.

Hope to see you in Duluth
