I'm seeking information on my gr.grandfather: KARL/CHARLES STREAM.
He is a Swedish Finn, b. 03 July1860 in Finland. He came to Michigan in 1880. He went by Charles Stream here in the U.S. family lore has it that the last name was also changed from STROM/OSTROM/STREM, something along those lines. His only sibling I have info on is a sister: ANNIE-b. 06 May1858 in Finland. She was wed to C.Andrew JARVINEN and they imigrated to Vancouver,B.C. abt.1904. On ANNIE's death certificate
it states that her father was O.STREAM of Finland.
CHARLES STREAM was wed to JOHANNA MICHELSDOTTER FAGERLUND: b. 16Aug.1862 in Terjarv, Finland. She came to Michigan in 1883.
Please any help on the FAGERLUND or STREAM lines would be so gratefully appreicated.

Thank you.

Hello Barbara,
on 16Aug.1862 is a Johanna Michelsdr Lytz born in Terjärv, surely the same person. Her parents were Michel Eriksson Lytz and Lisa Greta Johansdr Aspfors.
Hope this is a help.

Johanna, now Fagerlund, moved to Kronoby 12 Nov. 1878 and settled as maid on the Torgare parsonage. She went to Gamlakarleby in 1880.
In the following communion book reads as follows:"is said to be married in America to Karl Ström."

In Kronoby is a Karl born 3 July 1860. He is born on Storå, father is bonden Matts Henriksson and mother Anna Lisa Karlsdr. This is probably your Karl Ström.

Karl Mattsson Storå emigrated to America.

Hasse A

Barbara,

There's a strong possibility that Karl/Charles was born in Kronoby to widower Matts Henriksson Storå who married 14 Dec 1856 to Anna Lisa Karlsdotter Wäll. They had 7 children, and one was a daughter Anna, b. 15 Oct 1858. Other children were Karl, Henric, Matts, and Johanna. Matts Henriksson was born 20 Mar 1824 in Kronoby and his wife Anna Lisa was born 10 Feb 1831 in Lepplax, Pedersöre. Matts Henriksson was previously married 3 Nov 1844 in Kronoby to Brita Johansdotter Spik and they had 6 children named Johan, Brita (2), Anna (2), and Maria.

Records show that Karl Mattsson Storå, b. 1860, moved to Karleby on 10 Nov 1879 and then went to America ca 1880-83. There is data about the above families on the Talko database.

June and Hasse,

Thank you both for the information you sent. What a thrill to have it.
At this time as I am just getting started on my STREAM-FAGERLUND lines and don't have anything to contribute to Talko I will have to wait to see what is listed for my families. So, if anyone wants to send me more information it will be received with much gratitute.
Again thank you!

Kind regards,
Barbara

Hi Denise,

Thank you so very much. I'm quite sure that the Carl Strom that you found is my gr. Grandfather, the dates and time all line up right for it to be him. I never thought to look in the Swedish information. Maybe this would work for my gr. Grandmother also.

Again, thanks for your help.

Blessings,
Barbara

Hi Barbara,
Was your great-grandmother already married to Carl Strom before she came to America? This is the closest passenger record I'm coming up with, and there isn't an actual record to view on this one.

Hi Denise,

Again thank you for your help! I tried to find Johanna last night (til 3 am) and might have had success. I searched using every way I could think of. She was Johanna Mickelsdotter. I found a Johanna Nickelsdotter in the New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957. She was 20 y. old and the arrival date would have been right. In the 1900 census she states that she immigrated in 1882. It is a long shot but the only one that even begins to come close. What do you think?? Could it be her??

Blessings,
Barbara
