Here is the list, it has an odd format, but you should be able to figure it out.

If you know someone who should be awarded this medal who is not on this list, please do not contact us as we can not help you !

Thanks. Same names, but different format. But it's readable. I couldn't attach it because it had too many kb. My mail has the contact info.

Blomqvist, Evert 20 Dec 1906 Purmo, Finland US

OMG.........wow...not sure how to feel.....I feel a bit sad really but also.....a bit of relief that I have an answer for a missing person I have been looking for. But then, this list doesn't necessarily mean that Evert died during the war does it?

About 10 months ago I was searching for Evert, a friend of my mom's first cousin Elli (you can see me refer to him in lots of posts of mine as I was having a lot of trouble trying to find him).

Now I know why I couldn't find him. :(((

It has got to be him. Same name, same birthdate and place of birth. Sadly, I couldn't find any next of kin when I was searching, in fact, I have always been on the lookout for him and his family but no luck.

I still feel I should do 'something' because I feel like I know him. I have written about 30 letters over the last year and sent them to the USA and Canada to see if I could find a record of him or family. Only 1 reply came back saying they didnt know him. Anyone with any ideas on what I can do or should I just leave it for now?

Ayla,

Don't jump to any conclusions. The list does not say they are dead, just missing to the people trying to find them for the commemorative medal.

You should contact the group to see if they can tell you one way or the other.

The list also says looking also for next of kin.

Thank you Ilmari, yes, the first time I read the post I thought that he had died during the war, then when I checked it again I realise that of course, he is just 'missing'. I was just so stunned at seeing his name after looking for him for a long time.
All my leads have been dead ends so I do wonder if he made it through the war or not. I will write and see what happens.
