Hi Shirley,
Since we have had 29 inches of snow in December so far, you are welcome to as much as you want. Our weather has been mild
though. Makes for a pretty Christmas scene.

Merry Christmas to you all.

And, Shirley, we do not have that much snow here in southern Finland yet. But that is OK, because I know nicer ways to spend Christmas than shoveling snow.

They are Santa's little helpers, called joulutonttu in Finnish or jultomte in Swedish. "Christmas Brownie" is the closest equivalent that I can figure. Maybe there's a better expression.
Anyway they wish Melodious and Harmonious Christmas in step with the music they play.

God Jul! Merry Christmas to all!

:) Its been a wonderful autumn for me!

As to genealogy, it can be said in a few words: They got us!

I have been looking for relatives in the US for about one year, with moderate success. But, in October one of my first cousins in Mariehamn, Åland, received a letter from a second cousin in New York City. Her daughter found him on Internet!

As to other good news, my 9 years of research into the passenger steamer traffic between Åbo and Åland ended in a book published in November. It has sold very well, to the benefits of the Maritime Museum in Mariehamn.

Christmas has just started so I hope a wish for a joyous Christmas season is okay. Perhaps we can all join in a wish for a world where peace is spread one person at a time throughout the new year.

Syrene and Don Forsman
