Hello - I stand all amazed at the talent in this group! I feel very humbled in my meager attempts at this daunting task. I hope I can contribute in some way.

I seek information concerning:
Eseri Sutinen dob ~1875 date of death unknown, presume in Calumet Michigan (Houghton)
emigrated from Puolanka to Houghton Michigan, USA in 1909 with wife Riciina/Regina and daughter Reeta (Greta) Eliina born 7 July 1903 in Puolanka.

Seeking any information on Eseri or wife, Reeta is my paternal grandmother and I have the information forward. I also have Eseri's naturalization (1914)certificate number and Reeta's affadavit of birth in Puolanka if it helps, but nothing on Riciina.

Kind regards and many thanks if you may be able to help

Hi Rhonda,
From the Institute of Migration here is a bit of info. on your Sutinen family. At least these records have birthdates, and it appears there were other children besides Greta...

Best Regards,
Denise :)

Hi,
I believe this is Regina's christening record...though the image is not very good. Just realized Eesari's birth on this image too, just above her's.

Best Regards,
Denise

Hi,
On seekingmichigan.org there is a death record for their son Esa Waino Sutinen, as well as other Sutinen and Wäyrynen names. (maybe relatives?)I tried to attach it, but I guess the image is too large. :( When you get to the website, click on DISCOVER, and then the next page that opens has a listing for Death Records 1897-1920. Click on DEATH RECORDS, type in "Sutinen" in the search box on the next page that opens, and there are 13 of them.

Best Regards,
Denise

Hi Rhonda and Tapio,
You are welcome, Rhonda! :) Happy hunting for further ancestors!

and Tapio,
Thank-you for telling about the membership to FFHA. I never realized that one could get further records than what was available on their website for free by joining. Awesome, and the price is very reasonable... Thank-you! Now I'm excited! :D

Best Regards,
Denise

Denise and Tapio - Greetings! you are both wished MANY blessings for your help.
I am joining FFHA as a Christmas present to myself, as the Sutinen line has much I need to investigate. (LOL - I may have to take Finnish language lessons as well!)

Thank you sincerely for your kindness and information. That cherished photo on my wall is coming more to life each day!
Hugs
Rhonda

Hi Rhonda,
I've been working on my ancestry for well over 12 years now, and do not speak or read Finnish or Swedish, which makes researching difficult at times. Don't ever feel silly asking questions; I do all the time! :D :p  :o The members on Finlander Forum are awesome and very helpful.
My aunt is fluent in Finnish and laughs at me when I pronounce names and slaughter them, and she always corrects me. I know a bit of French, as I took that in high school, and also a bit of Spanish because I lived in Arizona for 20 years, but...I even stink at those languages. ;)

Thanks for the "blessings" (I need them!)
Sincerely,
Denise

Thank you, Tapio. I, too, will treat myself to the membership. I have poured through these records for years, but if membership makes searching easier, it will be worth it. Much of my family is found in these records.
kiitos,
Karen
