Maternal grandparents were Finnish immigrants. My grandmother and her 2 sisters, grandfather and his 4 brothers all came to USA. All settled in Minnesota, with exception of one of the sisters who settled in Seattle, Washington. Grandmother was born in Helsinki, emigrated in 1913 through Fort Francis, Canada, and grandfather was born in Uurainen, emigrated in 1909 through Portland, Maine, USA.

I am 3rd and 4th generation Finnish-American.
My Great-Grandfather immigrated in 1801 from Humalainen Farm in Osismala.
My Great -Grandmother was Ulrike Helena Hannula born 1864 in Teuva.
My Grandmother immigrated in 1903 from Saarijarvi, her name was Jenny Piispanen/Paananen born about 1889, the child of Wilhelmina Kuoppala and
Heikki Heikenpoika Piispanen, who both died that same year in Karstula.
I hope to make many new connections here!:)

Hi, Jennifer,

Ohio! I've been chasing my Howell line around Ohio since I first started researching. In fact, chose them to start with since all my other lines were immigrants, but I knew absolutely nothing about the Howells. I finally hired a professional service for them and am now getting back to my grandparents' families. Gramma was born in Tampere and Granpa was born in Uurainen. Found out his father was illegitimate and that's leading me on a merry chase!!
