Alexander the Great lived before watches were common. He found he could measure time by the evaporation of water. When he went out in the morning he would take a rag, dip it in water, and tie it around his wrist. After a few hours in the outdoors, the cloth would dry out and Alexander would know it was time for lunch... The cloth was known as.....
