Elizabeth Ann “Betty” (Finsland) Forslund, of St Paul, Minn., of Lewy Body Dementia on June 3, 2010.

Born March 7, 1940, to Paul and Adelaide Finsland in Superior, Elizabeth graduated from Superior East High School in 1958 where she received the National Merit Scholarship Award. In 1962, Elizabeth graduated from University of Wisconsin, Superior with a bachelor of science in chemistry and math. She accepted a teaching position in Janesville, Wis., that year, where she later met and married Gordon Forslund. Elizabeth left teaching to raise a family. She later managed the Village Craftsman and was appointed to the Janesville Planning Commission. She was a Girl Scout leader for 10 years, a member of the AAUW, was involved in the YWCA and was active in the downtown merchants association.

After her children were grown, Elizabeth followed her dream and attended the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee where she earned a master’s degree in architecture in 1986. After graduation, she moved to Minneapolis, Minn., where she pursued her career as an architect until retiring in 2003. In the Twin Cities, she was a member of MENSA, AIA of Minnesota and St. Paul. She hosted annual tea parties in her home for 14 years and was an avid reader.

Elizabeth is survived by her significant other, Randy Lanquist of St. Paul, Minn.; daughter Ingrid Forslund (Jeff Bellcour) and their children, Chad Forslund, Brittany Forslund (Derik Pollock) and great-grandson, Kane Pollock, all of Janesville, Wis.; son, Eric Forslund (Kelly Elver) and their children, Mia, Robin and Andrew Forslund, all of Madison, Wis.; brother, Robert (June) Finsland and sister, Janice (Robert) Marcuk, all of Superior.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Adelaide Finsland and former husband Gordon Forslund.
