Hello
I need some help finding the parents and siblings of Jacob Mankinen (Manginen) born 14 July 1888 in Kajaani. Dead 5 March 1971 in Amerika. He was married to Olga Maria Jokelainen from Paltamo. They emigrated to Amerika. I think Jacob had at least one moore brother, Victor, who also emigrated.
Have a nice summer.

Thank you Tapio
The name is right but the dates don´t match. They might be related but I don´t know yet. His wife Olga Jokelainen was from Paltamo. I have found her ancestry but I´m stuck on his.

Karin it´s too bad we don´t have access to the birthrecords in Kajana
to the year 1888, the last child marked in my link is Alexandra Augusta
born in 1886, there could have been even more children to this family?

Maybe a query here could help?

I found a Victor Manginen and his family in Marquette county, MI in 1910-1920-1930. Also his marriage record in 1906. That gives name of father and mother and wife's parents. Spellings may not be accurate. Also found Jacob's WWI and WWII draft cards. Looks like father's name matches with Victor. On Jacob's emigration record in Finland, he is listed as Jaakko Simunanpoika Mankinen. On Victor's marriage record father is given as Simeon Manginen and mother as Elisa Rantanen. Victor married Lisa (Elisabeth,Lizzie) Kostama
27 Aug 1904 in Republic, MI. Her parents are given as Elfas Kostama or Kostaina and Brita Jussila. This is from Family Search Pilot, Index # MO1712-2 film # 2342668, Michigan OMD.

Here's some of Jacob's info. I don't know what you have.
According to SSDI and CA Death Index, Jacob Mankinen 14 Jul 1888 died 15 Mar 1971 in Redding, Shasta, CA.
In 1930, they were in Ashtabula, OH. If you want the census images just ask and I will post.

Thank you both of you.
Tapani, I have tried contacting Kajaani but they wanted a lot of money for it. :(
Karen I think you are on the right track but until I see Jacobs birthrecord I can´t be sure. You don´t need to post the cencus images I have seen them.
