Mildred Caroline "Millie" Nylund, 89, passed away of cancer on July 10, 2010 at her home in Vancouver, WA, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born on June 19, 1921 in Vancouver, and was a lifetime resident of Clark County. Millie graduated from Vancouver High School in 1940.
She worked at Barnes Hospital for the U.S. Army until it closed in 1946.
She married Ted Nylund in 1945.
Millie was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church and enjoyed reading, sewing, and visiting with her family and Christian friends. She was well known for her tasty wild blackberry jelly.
Millie is survived by her five children, Linda Simon of Battle Ground, WA, Mike with Jeanne Nylund and Eric with Kim Nylund of Vancouver, Susie with Phil Dekker of Portland, OR, Steve with Julie Nylund of Brush Prairie, WA; her sister, Josephine Cummins; brother, Willis Harmala; 38 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ted Nylund; her parents, Ned and Catherine Harmala; one sister, Kay Kaleta; her four brothers, Ralph, Raymond, Henry, and Chester Harmala; her son-in-law, Joseph Simon; and her great-grandson, Jason Homola.
Funeral services will be held on Tues., July 13, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, 16603 NE 142nd Ave., Brush Prairie, WA. Burial will be at Elim Cemetery in Brush Prairie, WA.
