Walter E. Maki, of San Jose, Calif., was born in Iron River, Wis., Feb. 12, 1925, and passed away in San Jose on July 25, 2010.

Walter was preceded in death by his father John Maki and his mother Hilja Maki, both from Finland before immigrating to the United States.

Walter married his childhood sweetheart, Irma Jarvi-Maki, who he adored for over 64 years.

They were both very fond of their Finish ancestry and enjoyed their culture and language. They loved to travel and explore together. They lived in Wisconsin, Texas, Georgia and New York before settling in California.

Walter was a mechanical engineer serving the majority of his life with General Electric.

Walter was an honorable veteran of the United States Navy.

A Memorial Service will be held at Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1550 Meridian Ave., on August 7 at 11 a.m.
