Tekla Eleanor Maria Schlecht, 89 years old, passed away peacefully on Sept. 11, 2010 at the Golden Age Home Care near Battle Ground, WA. She was born November 25, 1920 near Gackle, North Dakota to Joe and Flora Sarkkinen and grew up near Gackle, ND. Tekla married Arthur Schlecht in 1941. In 1961 they moved to Battle Ground, WA where she lived until her passing.

Tekla was a lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church. She was a loving mother and enjoyed the companionship of her Christian friends.

Tekla is survived by four sons, Dale (Wanda) Schlecht, Rodney (Yvonne) Schlecht, Keith (Lynn) Schlecht and David (Sarah) Schlecht; two daughters, Sharon (Jim) Lindberg and Charlene (Alvin) Felts; one brother, Wilfred (Dory) Sarkkinen; one sister, Helen (Clifford) Homola; also, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; her parents; her sister, Irene; and son, Cecil.

Funeral services will be held Tues., Sept. 14, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, 16603 NE 142nd Ave., Brush Prairie, WA with burial following in Elim Cemetery, Brush Prairie.
