Someone asked for this recipe, so I'll post it here for everyone:

Swedish Limpa



2 pkg yeast
1/4 c. very warm water
2 c. rye flour
1/2 c. dark molasses
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1 tbsp salt
1 tbsp caraway seeds
4 oz. chopped orange peel
3 c. hot water
2 tbsp white sugar
7-8 c. white flourDissolve yeast in warm water. Combine next 7 ingredients in large bowl. Add hot water and mix well well; cool to room temp. and add yeast mixture and white sugar. Gradually add flour, beating well after each addition. Turn dough onto floured surface and coat lightly with flour. Cover and let rest 15 min. Knead until smooth and elastic - 8-10 min. Put dough in greased bowl, turning to grease the top. Cover and let rise until elastic. Divide dough into quarters and shape into round loaves; seal seam well. Place on greased baking sheets, seam side down (we used pie pans). Cover; let rise in warm place until doubled in bulk. Bake 350 40 min. Grease crust to prevent cracking. Cool on racks. Makes 4 round loaves or 2 8x5 loaves.

We used to add about 2/3 c. raisins to the dough and a bit of cardamom.
I've seen a recipe for making this bread in a bread machine.
