I have conflicting information regarding the parents of Abraham Fontell or Fontelius, born in 1690 (in Rymättylä), dead in 1748, and married to Anna Sofia Nordenberg. According to one source, his parents were Nils Kellmanius/Fontelius, dead 1692 in Rymättylä, and Maria Agricola, dead in 1709 (ref: http://kaikki.nettihotelli.net/2w/dat97.htm#7). According to a handwritten family tree from the 1940s or 50s, his father was instead Samuel Fontelius, teacher in Hedemora, Sweden. I would appreciate comments on these alternatives, regarding potential supporting sources.

Christer,

Have you tried to be in contact With Lauri Kiviniemi the owner of the site mentioned ( http://www.sukupuu.org ) you find his contact details on the first page.

Thank you, Tapio and Lasse, for your support!

Your references obviously point in only one direction, that Abraham F actually was the son of Nils Kellmannus. (I could understand the student list reference, but not the information in Finnish in Lauri K's site home page.)

(I came into this issue, since Abraham was the grandfather's grandfather of Maria Fontell, whose daughter Ella Maria Blomström married Richard Mauritz Labbart, whom Tapio and I exchanged notes about some days ago...)

One big question here is, does these roots go way back to Michael Agricola?

Tapio:

Thanks for this reference to the Agricola background. I have seen other references, where it is the Christer Agricola living 1623-1669 that was married to Brita Forsenius, and not the Christer A. that was born in 1593. He is instead described as being married to Kerstin Svensdotter Munk.

Do you have any comments on these alternatives, based on other sources, maybe?

I think it´s best to stop at Krister Simonis Agricola d.1662 and his wife Kirstin Svensdotter, as seen here:

Tapio:

Thanks again for your support!

I don't understand Finnish, so I could not read the messages between you and Erkki, but I could read the text on the 'thumbnails' about Mr Agricola's ancestors, and that was very interesting.
