Hello, I am new here; hope I do this right. I am looking for the name of Alexander Jonasson Overfors'(1835 - 1905 from Gers,Lansi-Suomen Laani, Finland)) two wives. I think his second wife was a Mattfolk. His first wife was, I think, my great grandmother. They would have been near Esse Parish. If you have any info on this I would be grateful.
Thank you.

Noel,

Here I am again. I saw your blog first and answered.

Welcome to Finlander Forum. Do you know Heather Nichols? She joined the Forum recently and on Feb. 28 she posted a query about the Överfors family - she is the granddaughter of Grace Johnson who was a great granddaughter of Alexander Jonasson Överfors. I am also related to Grace, and I know Ken Jennings who is also a great grandson of Alexander. I wrote to Heather and told her I have the complete ancestry of Alexander and offered to share my data, but she never replied. I never read the blogs and would never have seen your request, but by chance I saw the Överfors name in your blog. You can find Heather's query here in the new Members Forum:

How much do you know about Alexander and his wifes? I'd be glad to send you whatever data you need.

Now I see your query here and will reply. Yes, Alexander was married twice - his wives were sisters. Ken Jennings was born of Alexander's second marriage to Johanna, through her daughter Lena who married Karl Söderlund-Carlson. Alexander had 4 children in his first marriage; and 7 in his second marriage. You're correct - they lived in Esse.

Let me know what information you need.

June

Welcome to Finlander!

I'm sure June can provide you all the information, but I like to notify that Alexander Jonasson Överfors' paternal great-grandfather Matts Simonsson Stubb (1730-1789) is also male line ancestor (eight generations back) of current foreign minister of Finland, Alexander Stubb.
He was also third cousin of my great-grandfather Alexander Paulsson Filpus-Sarell through Maans/Överfors line.
You have plenty of distant relatives here at Finlander Forum who have Esse ancestors, including June and me.

:) Jaska

P.S. Alexander's death year seems to be incorrect in the printed source we've used. According to HisKi he died 11 Feb 1902 (http://hiski.genealogia.fi/hiski?en+t9767056).
