I have copies of records of Reception of Members and Baptisms from the Swedish Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls, MI. Entries dated Dec 16, 1903 to Apr 10, 1905 for Members and Dec 29, 1904 to Feb 5, 1909 for Baptisms. These are from many places in the surrounding area, not just Crystal Falls. I'll gladly search what I have if anyone needs help. Karen

Karen,

You wrote about Pastor Hoikka. He was a pastor at Abigail Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Tawas, Michigan for a while. I posted many of his marriage and birth records on Finngen. You can look at them at the following URLs.

June, Thank you for the picture. Interestingly enough, I never equated the name with a girl I knew when I lived in Crystal Falls. She was probably the grand-daughter of J.J. Hoikka. Pastor Hoikka is buried in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls, along with wife Rhoda and,I presume a son, Philip J who died in 1907. I remember well the house they lived in as it was very near my aunt's. Small world to find out all these years later what an important part he played in the life of so many. Evergreen is where most of my relatives are buried. I'll have to look for the gravesite next trip home. Karen
