I have a request for help concerning a possible connection between the family of Klas Emil Ottosson Hohenthal, b. 1 Feb. 1846, Lappo, to the Sursill family. Klas was a pastor in Sideby 1885-1898 and in Nivala 1898-1904. He had a son Karl Lennart Hohenthal, b. 25 Nov 1877, Kurikka, d. 13 Aug 1951, London. The Hohenthal family came from Swedish Pomerania to Finland in the 1700s. Does anyone know of a connection? I think Margaretha Henriksdotter Forbus had some descendants named Hohenthal, but don't have any info. about them. Margaretha's mother's mother was from the Sursill family.

There in only one record mentioning the surname Hohenthal in the 1970 edition of GS (Maria Anna Hohenthal, record #5689). She was married to Fredrik Bogislaus von Essen, officer in Österbottens Regemente (served about the same time in the regiment as my ggggggrandfather Constatin de Carnall). One of my godfathers was Bogislus Hohenthal, married to Eva nee Eriksson, daughter of Gustav Eriksson, famous Åland shipowner.
