Our dear husband, father, and grandfather, Gary Reino Lind, 68, of Oulu, went to Heaven on July 1, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He passed away after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born June 21, 1943, the son of Reino and Beulah (Burkhart) Lind.

Gary grew up in Oulu and graduated from South Shore High School, where he was an outstanding athlete. On Jan. 6, 1968, he married the love of his life, Linda Kelly, and enjoyed 43 years of marriage. Together they had three daughters. Gary was a third generation well driller who took great pride in his business. He retired in 2001 after drilling thousands of wells.

Gary had a strong faith in the Lord and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Iron River. He enjoyed spending time with his family. One of his greatest joys in life was his seven grandchildren. Gary had a special bond with his three sons-in-law. He was a loyal fan of the South Shore Cardinals, Oulu Blue Jays, Packers, Brewers, Bucks and Wisconsin Badgers. Gary was proud of his Finnish Heritage and loved a hot sauna. After retirement, Gary enjoyed traveling and camping with his wife. He will be remembered throughout the community for his kind and honest character.

He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend, Linda Lind, Iron River; three daughters, Michelle (David) Paulus, Brule, Lori (Gary) Barningham, Washburn and Kristi (John) Brilla, Brule; seven grandchildren, Trevor, Brecken and Blake Gary Paulus, Baylee and Lexi Barningham and Preston and Bridger Garrett Brilla; two brothers, Larry (Joyce) Lind and Andy (Nancy) Lind; two sisters, Lenore (Keith) Holly and Donna (Rod) Hipsher; and aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Gary was greeted in Heaven by his parents, Reino and Beulah Lind; infant sister, Lavonne; mother-in-law, Charlotte Kelly; father-in-law, Vincent Kelly; special uncle, Eino Lind; nephew, Jason Karshbaum; and many aunts and uncles. We can only imagine the wonderful greeting he received upon arrival.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 8 at Grace Baptist Church, Iron River, with Pastor Tom Blomberg and Pastor Joseph Brygger officiating.

Interment will take place in Pine Glade Cemetery, Oulu.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the hour of service Friday at Grace Baptist Church.
