I am helping someone find information about Felix Öst, b. c 1876... somewhere in Finland. I have searched but can't find anything. Do you have any idea where the Öst name can be found. He was married to a woman named Selma, b. c 1879 and they lived in Washington State. That's all we've been able to find out so far.

This is one possibility:
August Felix Andersson b. 21.2.1875 at Östensö farm, Östensö village, Pedersöre (HisKi (http://hiski.genealogia.fi/hiski?en+t6035999))
His father starts using surname Öst.
August Felix Andersson Öst marries 7.2.1897 Lena HenrikGustafsdotter Sack and becomes a måg at Sack, Löfö village moving later to Kullnabba, Löfö village.
Wife dies on 23.6.1901 and he has faint marking on CB "Am 1900". They got children Maria Alexandra b. 12.10.1897 and Anders Viktor b. 27.9.1899.

Interesting.. Thanks. He evidently dropped the August and called himself Felix. According to data that Jaska found, Felix was married to Lena Sack, who died 1901. It appears that Felix then emigrated to the US in 1902. The query I have said he was married to a Selma A, b. ca 1875 in Finland, and they thought perhaps she also was from the Pedersöre area. But we don't know the rest of her name or anything more.. wonder if she shows up on later census records? Felix also had 2 children born to his first wife, Maria in 1897 and Anders in 1899. We don't know if they stayed in Finland... lots of questions and no answers..

I edited while you were responding, so check it out again if need be. I see no record, other than the marriage, for Selma Nyman.

Great.. the marriage record has her name and names of parents, and she was 27, so those are all clues. And also the names of marriage witness... lots of stuff to study.. I'll pass it on... they'll be happy to see all of that.. :)

I think I've found Selma's birth record in Edsevö: Selma Amanda, b. 13 Feb 1878 to Henrik Gustafsson Blässar, married 1866 to Kaisa Sofia Henriksdotter Granroth... they match the names Selma showed as her parents on her marriage certificate. I have some Blässar and Granroth names in my database.. now have to work to see if anything links up...

Just as I thought.. Felix was my 4th cousin+ and Selma was my 6th cousin+.... I had the data of their parents in my database...

I'm also finding that several SFHS members are related to both Felix and Selma.. just calculated that you are also related to both Felix and Selma = 8th and 6th cousins.

Not surprised any more! LOL
