Impi Jimnak passed away Oct. 27, 2013.

She was born in a sauna in the Brimson area on May 2, 1918.

She graduated from high school in Embarrass, Minn., with straight A's. She was an avid reader of non-fiction all her life. She could read and write Finnish and English before she attended school. She often told the story of standing on a chair and pointing to the calendar and asking her mother why they went to church on Sunday. She said, "That's not the Seventh day, see that is the first day, not the Sabbath". She later joined the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and made sure her children attended Church School. She is sleeping now, awaiting the return of Jesus when He will resurrect all His believers.

She is survived by her children, Judy Bachovchin of Illinois, Joyce Schillinger of Florida, David Miller of Duluth, Jackie LaKosky of Mountain Iron, Minn., Pastor Daniel Miller of McKinley, Minn., Janine Highland of Makinen, Minn., Guy Miller of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Robin Osvold of Cloquet, Minn.; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joan Marie Lax; her son, Carl Miller, Jr.; her parents John and Ida Wehmanen; brothers, Frank of Finland, Ilmari of Brimson and sisters, Tini of California, and Rauha of Two Harbors, Minn.

She was surrounded by many loving family members and received great care by Chris Jensen Hospice facility.
