Lempi Alexandra Forland died July 17th, 2014 in Battle Ground, WA. She was 93 years of age. Lempi was born October 23rd, 1920 near Turku, Finland to Frans and Ilma Suominen.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Mikal Forland of Battle Ground, WA; one son, David (Karen) Forland of Battle Ground, WA; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, her twin sister, Martha Seal of Brush Prairie, WA, Margit Skog of Battle Ground, WA, and Eila (Jussi) Tanninen of Paimio, Finland; two brothers, Erkki and Mertsi Suominen, both of Turku, Finland.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Irja Jaansalu; and three brothers, Arvo, Kosti, and Aarne Suominen.
Lempi immigrated to the United States in 1949 and resided in Portland, Oregon where she worked as a tailor. She traveled much and met her husband Mikal on a Norwegian ship. After their wedding in Brooklyn, New York, they lived in California, Oregon, and then in 1969, moved to their home in Battle Ground where she resided for 43 years.

She was a resident of Welcome Home Adult Family home for the past 2 years.

Lempi enjoyed painting, camping, collecting rocks and visiting her Christian friends. She was a lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.

The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wed., July 23rd, 2014 at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Brush Prairie, located at 16603 NE 142nd Ave., Brush Prairie, WA 98606. Viewing will be Tues., July 22nd, 2014 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at Elim Cemetery
