October 13, 1946 ~ November 19, 2013

Mary Jane Timonen passed away November 19, 2013 in Vancouver, Washington. A private memorial was previously held on November 23, 2013 at Merrill Gardens at Orchards Village, Vancouver, Washington.

Mary Jane Timonen was born in Astoria, OR on October 13, 1946 to parents Vivian Johnson Timonen and Hugo Timonen, who both predeceased her. Mary Jane lived in Phoenix, AZ, Vancouver, WA and Naselle WA, and enjoyed extensive travel throughout the United States. Upon her return to Vancouver, she enjoyed the SWIRL Club and activities through ARC of Clark County. As a most ardent fan of Columbia River Chorus chapter of the Sweet Adelines International, she was made an Honorary Member and hardly ever missed a performance.

Mary Jane always had a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face around people. Many people have commented that she "never met a stranger" because she instantly connected with everyone she met. She loved to make people laugh and made everyone feel special.

Mary Jane loved social events of all kinds, especially family gatherings. Her family meant everything to her. When her mother married James G. Shaw Jr, Mary's family expanded to include not only a wonderful step father, but loving step siblings Susan Manning, Sara Lee Shaw, M.D. and James G. Shaw IV and their families. Besides the James Shaw relatives, she was a beloved member of a large extended family of 19+ cousins from both her mother's side (Johnson relatives), and her father's side (Timonen relatives) of the family. She was especially close to her loving guardians, Cousin Judy (Johnson) Harrison Cruden, deceased, and Kenyon Cruden. Her cousin Donna (Johnson) Glanschneg took Mary Jane under her wing and served as caregiver the past few years when Mary Jane lived in Merrill Gardens at Orchards Village.

A graveside service and reception will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Peaceful Hills Cemetery, and Naselle Lutheran Church in Naselle, Washington.
