I have a relative whose name on his gravestone is "Matts Leander Jackson" and his birth date there is 11 Mar 1868. I believe his given name at birth was Matts Leander Jakobsson, and that he was from Esse, and his father was Jakob Andersson Rådmans and his mother was Anna Lovisa Johansdr. To prove this connection I need to link his emigration to American in 1888 or 1889. He claimed a homestead patent in Mason county, Washington, in 1899, so he became an American citizen by 1894. I cannot locate emigration data from Digitaalarkisto for 1888-1889, nor can I find anything in the Migration Institute database. I would appreciate any help in confirming this connection is correct.
Further information: death on 25 Nov 1912 in Rochester, Thurston County, Washington, and buried in Grand Mound Cemetery near there. He appears in 1900 and 1910 US Census in Thurston county, Washington. He married my great aunt Cajsa Johanna Skytte from Terjärv on 15 Mar 1902 in Rochester.

Jaska,

Thank you for all your efforts. Knowing that the "Finnish character" emigrated to America is consistent with identification -- and not contradictory.

I will continue to pursue his immigration from US side. If/when I find more, I will post here. Thank you again!

Paul
