Arne Jylha passed away at Clatsop Care in Astoria, Ore., on Jan. 8, 2015, at the age of 89 years old. He was born Nov. 11, 1925, in Astoria, Ore., where he lived his entire life. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Marilyn Jylha (Hannula).

Arne enjoyed a long and successful career with Lovell Auto Company that spanned over 50 years. He was a longstanding member of the Astoria Finnish Brotherhood, the American Legion, the Elks, the Shriners and the Masonic Lodge. He also served on the board of directors of the Finnish Suomi College in Hancock, Mich.

Arne proudly served in the Navy during World War II as a radioman on the destroyer USS Shields. He attended many of the yearly reunions held across the U.S. Arne also traveled many times to his beloved Finland and family there.

Arne is survived by two sons, Terry Jylha and Jon Jylha, as well as four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Interment will be a private ceremony.
