Grandson of Albin who emigrated in 1910 to Canada came to SFHS, thinking his paternal side was Swedish. His maternal great grandmother was. However, I found him on Migration Institute. His birth is too late to show up in Finland Family history site, or Hiski Project. He married in Canada, had a son Elmer Aleksander Johnson born in 1914 in Hazemore, Alberta Canada. the son emigrated to Seattle WA.

Syrene,
From that SS Death Claim application, Albin's father is given as Johan Gabrielsson. Place of birth as Wued, Sweden on another form. I don't find any such place.

I don't either know where in the world that might be. I find him on the Migration Institute coming from Umeå. But the records available on Internet are not available as late as his birth date. That's why I placed the query on Finlander.

Still hoping someone has him in their computer as a family member :)

I'm still hoping for someone out there who knows Albin's birth parish. The Johnson family thought both grand mother and grandfather were from Sweden. Gmother is for sure. But since I found Albin/Alvin Konstantin on Finland's migration institute passenger list with Turku listed as residence I honestly believe we have another Swedish Finn here!!

I've looked for his birth year on Turku's church books, but they don't have registers available from as late as his birth. Anyone out there related?

Refer to the birth date and the father´s name: I found an Albin born 11 June 1888 in Tredingen Umeå Landsförsamling son to Johan Gabrielsson b 1839 and
Kajsa Kristina Sandberg b 1848 (second marriage). Albin´s full name was Albin Gustaf and not Albin Konstantin
See Umeå-landsförsamling-C-10-1872-1894-Bild-3880 (ArkivDigital) The parents were born in Vännäs, Västerbotten Sweden.
It is possible to follow the family in hfl and they moving a lot within the parish, from Umeå-landsförsamling-AI-21b-1886-1895-Bild-143-sid-558 and 1892 to page 2417 and 1893 to page 559. In next book Umeå-landsförsamling-AIIa-2-1895-1909-Bild-1890-sid-600 and the son Albin Gustaf moved to Torneträsk 17 Jun 1909 (Värnplikt?)

Thanks so much Ingemar. This has to be the Albin we've been seeking! I stand corrected!
The Johnsons will be very happy!

Syrene,
I received this from a friend in Sweden. It may or may not apply to Gustav Albin. In Hörnefors (by the sea) Umea, Gustav Albin is registered as a non-resident alien farmhand on his brother's farm, but resides in Amerika 1912-13-14 then obefintlig (whereabouts unknown) in Amerika/North (USA/Canada). He is found 25 Nov 1910 as crew entering NY, res: Sweden. Possibly made his trips as sailor???
