Tunna

1 tunna = 4 fjärding = 48 kannor = 125,6 liter

Ankare

  • 1 ankare = 1/4 Ã¥m = 15 kannor = 39,25 liter. Often used as a measure of wine, beer and spirits. The measure was official 1665

Fjärding

Kanna

  • 1 kanna = 2 stop = 2,62 liter.
  • Old Swedish space dimensions for both wet as dry goods. According to the 1665 rules 1 kanna = 2.617 liters. For wet products were 1 kanna = 1/48 tunna = 2 stop = 8 kvarter = 32 jungfrur. For dry goods was 1 kanna = 1/56 tunna (for dry goods) = 4/7 kappe.

Stop

  • 1 stop = 4 kvarter = 1/2 kanna = 1,3 liter

Kvarter

  • 1 kvarter = 1/8 kanna = ¼ stop = 4 jungfru = 32,7 cl.
  • Today, the size is closest to a soda bottle.

Jungfru

  • 1 jungfru = ¼ kvarter = 1/16 stop =1/32 kanna = 8,2 cl.
  • Used mostly for liquor. The official name was ort. The name jungfru ("virgin") is considered to be derived from the shape of the measure which was often conceived as a truncated cone and could resemble a woman, a virgin, with an ankle-length skirt.
