Can any of my Finn friends translate the attachment for Olof Johansson and his wife Lisa Kivelä and son Johan Abram from a rippi 1880 Kiviniemi farm, Tenniö by, Salla. I can't read Finnish very good. Any help really appreciated.

Hi Karen

Even after looking at the original it is pretty hard to read because of the quality. Anyway the language is Swedish. What little I could see was that Johan Abram was killed in Norway. There is a mention of a dangerous weapon. If the image or page was of a better quality I think I could translate it for you.

Thank you, Ian. Unfortunately the image on FFHA was poor. I could make out the Norway part, but didn't know what it was about. Thank you for your help.

Hi Karen!

Is it possible to get pictures with better resolutions? It looks like the text is in Swedish and there is Norge = Norway written!?

You maybe can send a link to the source?

Hi

Ist line: 1841 spö... för .... tjuvnad och fylleri i Kysko

4th line down:
År 1841 ...straffad med 5 par spö for ...fattighet i ....... och ......

1841 whipped for thieving and drunkenness i Kysko...

Year 1841 punished by whipping for .... poorness in .... and ....

This is what I could make out for now. Perhaps someone else can see more.

WOW! Maybe I don't want to know. Just kidding. We all have our "black sheep." He would have been a very distant connection. Thank you.

Here's a clearer image from the 1864-1873 communion book which appears to have the same notations except for the Norge addition. Maybe easier to read. From FFHA Salla

Hi
Here is another attempt. Still quite hard to read. It is the best I can do.

1841 ... för tjufnad? och fylleri i kyrkan uppenbarligen ...
1855 ... för 2e tjuf undergått uppenbarligen ...
1864 fälls för 3e tjuf ...vapen 2 timmar ... ... ...

1841 ... for theft? and drunkenness in church seemingly ...
1855 ... for the 2nd time having experienced seemingly ...
1864 ... charged for the 3rd time for theft and having a weapon
1841 punished by 10 lashings for ... and his mother-in-law having experienced seemingly ...
1855 ... for blasfemy ... and for using a very dangerous weapon and breaking the sabbath also for ill-mannered behaviour infront of the court.

Ian,
Thank you again. Seems this man didn't learn his lesson very well.
